Hi everybody,
does anyone know what s happening, why Marat loses after so good results in match? I m so sorry about that because I think tennis will never be the same without him, so Marat go further and good luck. Tanya.

Tanya, we could start another thread to talk about it, but the point is - nobody knows, maybe not even Marat himself.
We just continue supporting him & enjoy every single match he plays !

I'm new here but let me say, win or lose Marat is my boy!! No one brings as much passion to the game as he does. Let's all hang with him!! Love you Marat.

When will we get to see Marat next? Will it be the US Open and then no more? I am having a hard time accepting his announcement about this being his last year. Do you think he'll change his mind? I certainly hope so! He makes tennis so much more interesting simply because you never know which Marat will show up!

as unfortunate as it is, Marat confirms again & again that this is indeed his last year..
of course, there is always hope, but it's very unlikely that he will continue past this year - he does really seem to be getting tired of playing & traveling..

So how will the die hard Marat fans follow him in future? Must we wait for him to show up on tabloid covers? Does he have a foundation or some type of philanthropic thread that keeps him in the public eye? Will he simply disappear from the notice of the world as he trapses off to climb mountains and play soccer? I'm so disheartened! Thanks for listening to me rant!

cdpmom23, it's not a problem at all ! That's why we all here - to talk it out, our excitement, disappointment, even anger..

Marat gets my respect for not quiting right now & right here - as he said, he is "staying physically fit & mentally tough".
To me, that's where the toughness is - after such bad losses before Wimbledon, and this one at Wimbi, someone else might have desided to call it quits! But Marat is still here, though without real motivation & desire to fight..
At least, I still have hope that I will see him play some great tennis before he leaves..

As far as following on Marat's future: I know that Russian news sources - from TV to radio to newspapers, will be following Marat's career :)
I am sure of that !
When the time comes, you can write me a PM with your e-mail address & I will be keeping you posted :)

Natasha - I have never posted before (long time lurker) but would love to be included in your "Marat updates" emails. I am going to send you my email address as well. Thank you so much!

PS. So sad that we will not see him on tour next year but I bet he will be invited for exhos, etc. since he is so popular!

I'm hoping this board will still be here even after he retires. But if not I'm sure we can all find a way to keep the discussions going.

zookeeper, I'm sure we'll find a way to talk about Marat /and discuss things as a whole/ even if this forum is closed!

I don't know what Webby thinks about it, but as this is a free hosted forum, there is no reason to close it. I don't expect people to remain here forever (life moves on), but for a while I suppose some may continue here sharing news about Marat and just talking about other subjects :)
