Sorry guys, I didn't know where to post this, but I wanted to...
(I thought it's still early to open new topic for Hopman Cup - I don't want to jinx it )
ITF Survey - Who will win the Hopman Cup 2009?
Survey was separate on women & men's parts of this site..
Itftennis.com/womens results:
Russia – 38%
USA – 22%
France – 9%
Italy – 8%
Slovak & Thailand – both 7%
Germany – 5%
Australia – 4%
Itftennis.com/mens results:
Russia – 30%
USA – 24%
France & Thailand – both 10%
Australia & Italy – both 7%
Germany & Slovak Rep. – both 6%
I vote for RUSSIA too!

Maybe I'm reading way to much into this but I'm trying to figure out if it means we will still be seeing Marat in some sort of public way after he is retired from tennis.
From Hopman Cup Press Conference:
What do you have lined up?
(Marat) Huh?
After your tennis career?
(Marat) Well, I leave it, I leave it up to me. You know I don’t wanna speak really about it, and just my bosses they know about it. And I wanna do it this way. You’ll see, you’ll see me.

I'm hoping zookeeper that he does really well this year. If his ranking is in the top 5 at the end of the year, that would mean that he still has a lot of good tennis left in him, and he may decide to continue playing. thats what I hope.

I hope that's what it means too. I guess we won't know for sure until the end of the season. I'll wait I don't want the year to go fast.

I'm just happy we get one more year, it is generous of him to think of his fans in his decisions. If you guys want more you'll have to think up one of those "offers I just could not refuse" Marat mentioned to the interviewer because I don't think his fans could love him any more than already.
zookeeper, I don't want the year to go fast either, going to make sure to savor every time he is on court even if it means losing ridiculous amounts of sleep

Me too! Hopefully we will all get to go to a match and see him play one more time.

I think if he wins some titles and gets into the top rankings, he'll start enjoying tennis once again. Right now, he's frustrated that nothing is happening. But if he has a successful year and is in the top 5 by the end of the year, I think he may continue

I am so sorry for Marat that his shoulder is injured!
I hope he can stay healthy as soon as possible!
Keep my fingers crossed for him and that he can play AO!

thanks for the updates, webby!
I think Marat has made a right decision, even if it's a precaution...he needs to take a break after such an intense week - both physically & emotionally.
I wish him quick recovery & all the best! Can't wait to see him again!

Anyone knows what is that?
And again, sorry for this stupid question

Jelka, it's the worst tabloid with no single word of truth. They have no information about the incident apart from what we all know. Neither Marat nor anybody else have revealed what happened.
I don't think we should keep here links to russain yellowest press
