Congrats to Dinara on winning her 1st match!

I just talked to my sister who watched the match, and she said commentators weren't happy that Dinara is seeded #1 at Wimbi, that she never was good on grass, that she's been to 3 GS Finals & lost in all...I hope Dinara doesn't hear this anywhere..

Good luck to her, and I hope that she proves them wrong & goes far here !

Congrats to Dinara! - that's a big win for her, no matter what ranking Maurasmo is..

I do have to agree with the commentators that Dinara never looks relaxed, doesn't smile - she is always tense, under pressure..

I wish she could have more positive emotions on court, like Marat - he appreciates a good ralley, or a shot, and smiles :)

Good luck to Dinara tomorrow against Lisicki !

Dinara just won her second set!!

But but i am furious/upset with the level
of competence of the Chairempire
who has
no idea about her eyes and brains and her
silly lines people. They made Dinara play
out a point when she had already won it!!

Tuff game for Dinara and wish
she had better conditions for the match -
hard to find rhythm and build up momentum
in this hot weather!! at 31 degrees Centigrad

With a grind of the two sets behind her - difficulties
in her serving , the third set saw Dinara hammer her german opponent to smitherings!! Sabine had to have a medical time out at 4-1

Dinara Safina took that time out of her opponent
to do some practise !! Great spirit and working out in her mind on doing what seems to be her forte= the turnaround of her matches!! i would say!!

Dazzlling treat of 5 drop shots by Dinara putting
more into her game. What was more dazzling was the fiery exclamations in Russain when things
were not going right!! So exacting is the comparison
to big brother with her hands covering her face and
screaming her frustrations! Just watched a commentator say she interviewed Dinara and on mention of Brother Marat , Dinara face lights up and says she adores big brother!!

Dinara Safina wrapped up the final set and thank God she is into the semi Finals !!!!

Congrats to Dinara!
She is in semis!

It will be very tough against Venus - I just hope it will be a good match ! Good luck, Dinara !

Venus is however not invincible!!

Would be a real high
powered match!!

According to the official website of wimbledon it is written: Venus
Williams warns Dinara " She has number one ranking but i
have more experience , more success.(dated 30 June 09)

Indeed more success in INTIMATIDATING her opponents
with her wifful screaming. A lot of people are complaining
about the unfair grunts and wild screaming even Chris Evert today
The main culprit according to Chris was Monica Seles

That said there is no doubt Venus
is an excellent tennis player but
i withhold total admiration due
to that intimidating noise. She
will never be able to curtail it
because its such a deeply
ingrained habit. She will feel lost
without it!!

latest i hear on news reports the International Federation
of tennis is going to take measures to curtail this unsportsmanlike habit

it is well understood that some players do make natural
noises which is part of the breathing apparatus that
we humans have. During severe physical activity it
is natural for some some sounds to emanate. Many
players dont have that coming to them bcos everyone
is made differently

But the grunts and shierks of Maria Sharapova and Venus
williams are deliberately done!! come on we are
not born yesterday........

I am sorry i seem quite arguementative and
express my displeasure often times but truly
i just dont like to see unfairness and let
it rest like that. I like to speak up :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

what of our Marat?

Marat is cool during his matches and does not grunt
inbetween in the course of his game. he is noiseless

At times AFTER his rallies and not during
any game he will release a heart rending shout!!He needs to release some
tension but that is perfectly ok!! he does NOT DISTRACT
his opponents DURING the game when shots
are exchanged!!

Dinara if i may say so does make some
noise but it is a natural sound during
her matches and not meant to intimidate
her opponents!!

from gotennis.ru

Dinara said that Marat already congratulated her on going to semis - he sent her sms, just saying "congratulations".

I wish Dinara best of luck today against Venus!
Maybe the fact that she comes to this match as a dark horse, and nobody expects her to win, will help her relax!

But, I agree with commentators, she needs to get her serve back!
It is strange that being so tall, she had no aces against Lisicki, and her 1st serve in was not very powerful - only in 105s, and Lisicki is short, but her serve was in 120s..

Dinara has a battle on her hands!!

Venus just comes in fast takes the ball
early and hits so hard, building
up her edge early at 6- 1 first set

Still Dinara holds her concentration...

Looks like its not Dinaras day today
Her game is not clicking today
with unforced errors and misses
which is unusual actually..

Cute Dinara - nice interview about preparation for hard-court season

and, when she is asked who is the cuttest guy on ATP tour, she says with a smile:
"My brother, how can you even doubt that.." :)

http://www.dnevnik.si/video/4045

Also, here's somethiong from yellowfuzzyballs.wordpress.com

Here's what Marat said in response to Mats Wilander’s criticism of Dinara after the French Open final:

“I was disappointed at Mats when I heard what he said on Eurosport about my sister. He clobber her overall and showed no respect for my family. Mats was still my coach for a year.

Mats literally killed her verbally. I was shocked when I heard it. It is tough enough for my sister to lose the finals, it was not fun for her to hear what he said. He said that “she fought not, she was not entertaining”.

Very nice to hear Marat defending his little sister!!
